Delete your Metis account

Effective October 9, 2026

Metis is a vocabulary app developed by Iurie Nunu. You can delete your Metis account, and all the data tied to it, at any time, either inside the app or by email.

Delete it in the app

Open Metis and go to the Profile tab.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
Confirm by tapping Delete account again.

Your account and data are deleted immediately. This can't be undone.

Request deletion by email

If you no longer have the app, email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my Metis account” and include:

the email address you use to sign in to Metis;
how you sign in (email and password, Google, or Apple). If you use Sign in with Apple with a hidden email, include the private relay address if you can find it;
your Metis handle, if you know it.

Please send the request from the same email address as the account, so we can confirm it's yours. We may ask a follow-up question if we can't. We'll delete the account within 30 days of a verified request and reply to confirm.

What gets deleted

your account and sign-in details;
your profile: display name, handle, profile photo, languages, and settings;
every card you've saved, your review history, progress, and streak;
your collections, and your membership in collections others shared with you;
your friendships and friend requests, blocks, and the words and challenges you sent or received;
your notification preferences and push notification tokens.

What may be kept

Reports: reports you submitted, or that were made about you, are kept so we can deal with abuse, but are no longer linked to your account.
Analytics and crash reports: usage events and error reports already sent to PostHog and Sentry stay with those providers under their own retention periods, and are only used in aggregate.
Shared word content: AI-generated definitions can be cached and reused for anyone who searches the same word. That cache isn't linked to you, so it stays.
Purchases: payment records are held by Apple or Google, not by us.

If you have a subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel a Metis Premium subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings first, so you aren't charged again.
